IT System Outage

Global IT systems update: Most impacted NHS IT systems are now back online. There may be some disruption this week as GP and pharmacy services recover from the loss of IT systems.

As Mondays are the busiest time to contact a GP surgery, unless it is urgent, please wait until later in the week to call or use online services.

Teams will be updating records, contacting patients and rebooking appointments as needed. Our services continue to be busy following the disruption and we kindly ask for your help:

  • Please don’t turn up at the emergency department, a minor injury unit or call NHS 111 unless you have an urgent medical reason so we can keep these services available for the people who need it the most.
  • If you need to visit a minor injury unit please check locations and wait times online before you go: https://royalcornwallhospitals.nhs.uk/waiting-times/urgent-care/
  • Please continue to attend your GP or hospital appointment unless you are advised otherwise.
  • Always use 999 if you have a life or limb threatening emergency.
  • Use NHS 111 online to get advice (please only call NHS 111 for urgent matters).

Thank you for your understanding and for being patient with our staff, who are doing their best to ensure people with the most urgent health needs are seen first over this time.

Due to a national issue, our computer system is currently down. This has been reported to our supplier who assures us they are investigating the issue with the highest priority.

Without access to the system, we are quite limited in what our staff can do. Please be kind and remember that we will do everything in our power to help you while operating safely, but delays are likely.

If you can access help elsewhere, please consider the following options:

  • Contact NHS 111 or call 111 for free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • The LIVI Service offers video consultations with clinicians, often available in the evenings and at weekends. It is free to use for our patients. Download the LIVI app from the App Store or Google Play, and follow the instructions to set up an account and book an appointment.
  • Minor Eye Conditions can be seen by the MECS Service.
  • Pharmacies can offer support and advice on general conditions and medications, and can even treat some common conditions such as ear infections and insect bites. To find a local pharmacy and check their opening hours, visit NHS Pharmacy Finder.
  • If you need mental health help, call free 24/7 on 0800 038 5300.
  • Please call 999 only in an emergency or if you have a life-threatening condition.

The NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly advice on the situation is currently available at: NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.

Important IT Message

Some of our NHS IT systems have been affected by global IT issues. We know that IT systems at some GP surgeries are impacted, as well as some non-clinical systems within certain NHS providers.

We kindly ask that people only call their GP surgery if they have an urgent medical reason until the issue is resolved. Please do not visit the emergency department, a minor injury unit, or call NHS 111 unless you have an urgent medical need, so we can keep these services available for those who need them most.

We are currently investigating the situation to understand the extent of the issue and will continue to provide updates as we know more.

During this time, please:

  • Attend your GP or hospital appointment unless advised otherwise.
  • Use 999 for life-threatening emergencies.
  • Consult your local pharmacist for many minor conditions.
  • Use NHS 111 online for advice (please only call NHS 111 for urgent matters).

Thank you for your understanding and patience. Our staff are doing their best to ensure that those with the most urgent health needs are prioritised during this time.
